Sound Memories

Sound Memories is our new project for elderly people, primarily those with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

This project comes out of a 2 session project we ran with partners Dance North for the Grampian Hospitals Arts Trust as part of their Resonate:Disseminate project, led by Mike Inglis and Wildbird’s Graeme Roger. The outcome was so unexpected and profound that we knew we had to develop this into a larger project. It took us two years, but we now have funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, The Adam Family Foundation and TSi Moray’s YouChoose4 fund to run a project in Moray.

We also have funding from NHS Grampian Endowment Fund to run this project in the Grampian area, where we will focus in areas of the region outside Moray.

We are awaiting government guidance on the easing of restrictions and access to care homes, referring to their Open With Care publications, and are consulting with Scottish Care for more information and guidance - as to when we can start our project. Once the restrictions lift, we will also be in touch with individual care homes to see how what the best approach would be based on their situation, needs and experience.

Partners Dance North and Wildbird are on board again to help us deliver and document the project. We are currently in the process of applying to other funding organisations and in conversation with partners to develop this project in Edinburgh.

You can see the post project film of the Silent Disco part of the Resonate:Disseminate project below.
